Charles Bradley

When you are doing your Christmas shopping at the Brown and Gold this month make sure to look for December's Memorabilia, Charles Bradley. His picture hangs to the right of the far left dressing room. In this photo Bradley is driving to the basket, wearing his number 35 Boston Celtic jersey.

Charles "Tub" Bradley was born in 1959 in Havre de Grace, Maryland.  As a sophomore in high school, Bradley helped Paul Metzger's Rams win the Class B state championship.  He journeyed to the University of Wyoming in 1979 to begin his collegiate basketball career as a Cowboy.

Charles Bradley is one of the most exciting athletes that has ever played for Wyoming.  He was ranked as one of the best players in Western Athletic Conference at the end of his career.  Bradley led the cowboys to the 1981 WAC title, a 24-6 record, and right into the NCAA tournament.  This was the first NCAA appearance in 15 years for the Cowboy squad.  Bradley was a three-time first-team All-WAC selection and an Academic All-American.  He finished his collegiate career as the second leading scorer in Cowboy history with 1,744 points and ranked second in assists with 215.

Charles Bradley was picked up by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA Draft, 23rd pick overall.  Bradley played in three NBA seasons for the Boston Celtics and then for the Seattle Supersonics.

Bradley returned to University of Wyoming in 1986 as an assistant coach and helped the Cowboys win a WAC championship and advance to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA tournament in 1987.  Bradley coached 15 years of college basketball on the men's side.  After he left Wyoming he was the assistant coach and also in charge of recruiting for San Diego State and Brigham Young University.  He was the head men's coach at Metro State for 3 years and then took a head coaching position at Loyola Marymount University where he coached until 2000.

Bradley was inducted into the University of Wyoming Athletics Hall of Fame on October 18, 1996.  To this day Bradley ranks as one of the best players in WAC basketball history.

Make sure to check out our memorabilia of Charles Bradley when you visit the Brown and Gold next!
